Oswald Ernest Ringwood

LDV / HOME GUARD CIRCA 1940 - 1944

Sergeant Ringwood is our most popular character from recent history. The Home Guard, Britain's wartime amateur part time army, holds a unique place in the affections of this country and has been featured on TV in programmes such as ‘Dads Army'.

Sergeant Ringwood can wear costume from any time in the Home Guard's history and is totally accurate. We have a comprehensive display of Home Guard weapons; equipment and posters and this is growing all of the time. Ex members of the Home Guard frequently complement us on our display and we feel that this is praise indeed.

We offer a 30-minute lively and interesting talk on the Home Guard for a changing and standing audience. Alternatively a shorter talk plus a drill competition for ‘recruits' from the audience, judged by a volunteer ‘General' with a prize for the best recruit. This is always successful.

If required the Sergeant can be upgraded to officer status. This character also fits in well as a walkabout for any 1940's themed event.
