Tobias Albert Ringwood

RECRUITING SERGEANT CIRCA 1915

A new character recently added to our range. Tobias is the son of Claude Horatio Ringwood who followed his father in to a career in the army, in fact into the 2nd Battalion of the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment, The Sherwood Foresters. He served in many campaigns and like his father before him became a pioneer sergeant. After being wounded at the beginning of the Great War in 1914 and no longer fit for front line service he became a recruiting sergeant. He now travels the country persuading potential recruits to join the colours.

Dressed in khaki service uniform with polished brasses Tobias cuts a very impressive figure. The presentation begins with Sergeant Ringwood making an impassioned speech to his potential recruits and then into the history of the recruiting sergeants of the past as per Claude Horatio. He then forms his recruit squad and presents a prize to the best recruit.

The centenary of the beginning of The First World War (1914-18) is only a few years away and interest in this is growing. We are sure that Sergeant Tobias will be in great demand.
